Join the FIWARE Community at Greencities 2020 in Málaga

Sep 24, 2020Smart Cities

FIWARE is heading to Málaga (Spain), the 2020 European Capital of Tourism (together with Gothenburg), on September 30 and October 1 for Greencities 2020, 11th Forum of Urban Intelligence, and Sustainability. The event, of which FIWARE is a Premium Partner, will be the last face-to-face event and opportunity for the FIWARE Community to meet. Greencities will be an international meeting point for all those involved in the construction of smart and sustainable cities, and we cannot wait to showcase how FIWARE is contributing to that goal, with open source and open standards.

FIWARE will be joined (in person as well as virtually in some cases due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis) in the exhibition area by co-exhibitors EGM, Eridanis, Cleopa (with Smart MaaS), FIWARE ZoneHOPU, HST Systemtechnik, Red Hat, and Ubiwhere. With their innovative solutions, each of our exhibitors, in their own unique way, are helping cities and metropolitan areas to embrace the “Smart City” concept: efficient infrastructure with an information network, eco-friendly mobility, creativity, and high productivity – all in a sustainable manner.

In addition to its participation as an exhibitor, FIWARE will be hosting a roundtable as well as an interesting side event with sessions on Blockchain, Water, and Smart Data Models

SIDE EVENT SESSIONS

The sessions can be attended in person at the event and remotely via GoToMeeting.

Open Data Models with well-defined semantics are key in the creation of truly interoperable and replicable solutions for intelligent cities, territories, and destinations. In a global market, it is essential to address the development of such models under the umbrella of initiatives with an international dimension. During this session, the “Smart Data Models” initiative will be presented, which the FIWARE Foundation, in collaboration with various relevant global bodies, has launched and is achieving significant global traction in various application domains. We will also explain how different organizations including public administrations can join this initiative and contribute the models they are developing within their projects, this way protecting their investment.

FIWARE is bringing open source technologies which are not only driving the definition of standards enabling interoperability and portability of solutions but also democratizing opportunities in the field of Smart Cities so not only large solution integrators and platform providers but also agile SMEs will be able to capture the existing opportunities, sometimes in partnership with those large players. During the session, we will learn how some SMEs are developing their business case using FIWARE and how the global adoption of FIWARE technologies by cities are helping them in expanding beyond their local markets and creating the incentives to invest in creating smart city solutions which can reach the global market.
