FIWARE to Attend India’s First-ever India Open Technology Conclave

TCOE India is pleased to announce India’s first-ever, INDIA OPEN TECHNOLOGY CONCLAVE on 26th September, 2019, at Taj Man Singh at New Delhi, India, with an exclusive focus on Open Source Technologies, Open Standards and Systems, Data Harnessing Technologies, and Intellectual Property Rights related to it. The intent of this proposed Conclave is to bridge the gap between Government, Research/Academia and Industry/SMEs/Start-ups/VC’s, Standardization bodies within India as well as from the Global arena.

The Open Technology Conclave is being supported by Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India.

The Government of India is presently working on a number of digital transformation projects like Digital India, Smart Cities, Smart Grid etc. and enabling 5G ecosystem including Standardization framework within the country. One of the challenges in creating such vast digital infrastructure for interoperability would be choosing right standards. There are a number of forums and alliances working on creating such standards. It is essential that the proposed solutions be standard driven and, follow open API based deployments. It is critical at this juncture to provide a platform to discuss the different technological solutions with stakeholders for productive and optimal solutions.

The Conclave will cover major topics like Smart Cities, Global Technology Ecosystem and 5G in India.

Mr. R. K. Pathak (DDG (IC), DOT) will speak on 5G scenario in India. Dr. A K Garg (Director, MEITY) will give an insight into Global Technology Ecosytem. FIWARE being the world acknowledged body for defining open standards is one of the stakeholders in the conclave.

Mr. Ulrich Ahle (CEO, FIWARE Foundation) will give a keynote address on how standard APIs and standard data models combined with open source software help to reduce cost for the creation and operation of Smart City solutions.

Telecom Centres of Excellence India (TCOE) under the aegis of Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Government of India, is engaged in R&D, IPR creation, Entrepreneurship/Startup development, promotion of Startups and SMEs. TCOE India is also one of the Independent Evaluation Group (IEG) registered at ITU for independent evaluation of IMT 2020 (5G) candidate technologies from India.
