From October 15th to 17th, FIWARE Zone iHub, promoted by the Junta de Andalucía and Telefónica, was present at the Smart Rural Innovation Fair (FIMART) held in Córdoba with an extensive program of activities focused on the application and benefits of standards in real life.
The fair strived to promote the latest advances in technologies and innovative services to rural areas and FIWARE did not disappoint on that front. Digitanimal, Sosteco and visualNACert were some of the companies showcasing the capabilities of FIWARE technology to improve their businesses with successful use cases based on data management.
In addition, there was also room for training on FIWARE. FIWARE Zone offered a four-hour training day presenting the standard platform and practical applications using Arduino.
Several facilitators of the FIWARE Zone iHub participated in the round tables, including Pilar Abiuso, who took part in the round table on ‘Advanced irrigation management based on sensorization’. The discussion revolved around LATAM’s experience with Chile Telefónica R + D initiative (an International Center of Excellence in Research and Development in Chile) in installing Smart Agro pilots, through which applied research has been carried out and water efficiency products have been developed.
The round tables were mainly focused on addressing the challenge of democratizing the technology, moving from data to knowledge. In this sense, FIWARE Zone iHub’s Director Juan Marcelo Gaitán held a presentation on the relevance of the FIWARE standards to improve agriculture and the important role of FIWARE Zone within the framework of the IV National Congress of Agronomists, which was held alongside FIMART.
