Engineering Group and the FIWARE Foundation have announced 'Knowage' as new FIWARE Generic Enabler for Business Intelligence and Data Analytics on Context Data, through a joint press release.
Knowage is now in the FIWARE catalogue to became the new open source reference implementation of the component supporting business intelligence functions and analytics on context data, within the architecture of any Powered by FIWARE solution.
2nd FIWARE SUMMIT, Utrecht (Holland), May 29, 2017 – Engineering Group – the leading Italian software and services company – and FIWARE Foundation– the legal independent body providing shared resources to help achieve the FIWARE Mission – announce the availability of Knowage as new brand of the FIWARE component for business intelligence and data analytics.
The new brand represents the next generation of the well-known open source business intelligence and analytical suite named SpagoBI after significant functional and technological transformations and a new offering model. Knowage supports a modern vision of the data analytics, providing new self-service capabilities that give autonomy to the end-user, now able to build his own analysis and explore his own data space, also combining data that come from different sources.
The user experience has been entirely redefined and is now adaptive to different devices and immediately usable with tablets and smartphones.
Knowage is available under two versions:
- the community edition, open source and public on github repository, including the whole set of analytical capabilities;
- the enterprise edition, provided and guaranteed by Engineering with a new commercial offering
Knowage CE is now an Incubated FIWARE GE, but will became the open source reference implementation for performing business intelligence functions and analytics on contextual data within FIWARE in a few months.

Knowage has been showcased at the 2nd FIWARE SUMMIT in Utrecht that took place from May 29th to 31st.
