Spreading the word in Malaga

Mar 30, 2012Ecosystem

On the 20th March, some members of the FIWARE and CONCORD projects held a meeting in the Malaga City Council. Malaga is a city with a strong technological infrastructure.  It participates in the FI-PPP project OUTSMART through the stakeholders group, and also holds the labels of smart city and Living Lab. We had the opportunity to provide them with an overview of the FI-PPP programme and the FI-WARE platform. Together we successfully explored new ways of collaboration.

On the 21st March, we participated in the event FUTURE INTERNET PPP: OPORTUNITIES FOR SMART CITIES AND SMES in the wonderful OMAU (Urban Environmental Monitoring) facilities.  Juanjo Hierro, FIWARE’s chief architect gave a clear picture of the added value of FI-WARE and its current status, as well as the characteristics and conditions of the First Open Call launched by the project, whose deadline is in mid-April (All the materials are public and you can download here). Based on our feedback, both of them seemed to be very useful for SMEs and cities.Other FI-PPP projects such as CONCORD, OUTSMART and SAFECITY also participated in the event.

After the public event, a private FI-WARE-CONCORD bilateral meeting took place. Sessions about joint activities in dissemination and in business models were very fruitful.

We would like to thank our hosts, Malaga City Council and OMAU for the hospitality shown by them and to the CONCORD project for the excellent organization of the aforementioned events.
